MARINE COMPRESSED GAS OXYGEN
TRANS-FILL OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS,
WARRANTY, AND SAFETY GUIDE
|
BEFORE OPERATING YOUR OXYGEN
CYLINDER TRANS-FILL,
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS
|
The KeepAlive KA951 Oxygen Trans-fill has been designed to provide a slow
constant flow of oxygen when filling from the a CGA
540 cylinder supply valve to a portable cylinder equipped with a CGA 540
valve. Each oxygen trans-fill is equipped with two slow filling orifices , The slow filling orifices located at both ends
of the flexible braided hose provides maximum safety during filling. The KeepAlive Oxygen
Transfill is specifically designed for
industrial oxygen service only. Use of this trans-fill for gases other than
compressed industrial oxygen up to 2500 PSIG, is
prohibited, and any user must assume all liabilities and consequences.
NOT FOR MEDICAL
USE!

CONNECTION
GUIDELINES
Never stand in front of cylinder outlets when operating the
cylinder valve. Remove the two protective covers from the 540 Valve Nipples
before attempting to connect to your cylinders. Be sure to properly
inspect both cylinders and trans-fill for any signs of grease and oil. If
grease or oil is suspected or found, do not use this device.
|
STEP
1. CONNECTING THE CGA 540 NUTS AND NIPPLE INLETS
1. Check to be sure that the valves on both cylinders are
off.
2. Remove the red protective caps from the ends of the Trans-fill Adapter and
fully close the Relief Valve.
3. In a clockwise direction, thread the knurled trans-fill nuts on to both
cylinder valves. Hand tight is sufficient.
4. If oxygen is escaping at either end of the trans-fill after
completing STEP 2, proceed to STEP 3 and then re-tighten. Many times the trans-fill
has not been hand tightened sufficiently.
|
STEP
2. OPENING THE CYLINDER VALVES
1. Stand behind the supply cylinder so that the cylinder is between you and
the trans-fill, and your portable cylinder. Remember: Never stand in front of
a cylinder outlet when opening the cylinder valves.
2. Fully open the cylinder valve on the receiving cylinder you are filling
counter-clockwise SLOWLY .
3. If no leak is detected, VERY SLOWLY open slightly the supply cylinder
valve and begin filling your receiving cylinder. The receiving cylinder will
begin to heat up if oxygen is entering the cylinder at too fast a rate. Our
slow filling orifices generally solve this problem of overheating. If this
occurs, turn down your supply cylinder valve. Otherwise, too much heat can
cause damage to your portable cylinder, and also not provide a maximum fill
for it.
4. When the sound of oxygen flowing through the trans-fill ceases, your
filling procedure is complete.
3. If you suspect a leak in your trans-fill, turn both cylinder valves off
and relieve the pressure by opening the relief valve. Call your KeepAlive Dealer.
|
STEP
3. CLOSING THE CYLINDER VALVES
1. Turn the supply oxygen cylinder valve in a clockwise
direction to OFF.
2. Turn the portable oxygen cylinder valve in a clockwise direction to OFF.
3. Allow the trans-fill to bleed off pressure by opening the relief valve.
4. After the pressure has been relieved, remove the Trans-fill Adapter and
replace the red protective caps.

MAINTENANCE
AND CARE
1. Your KeepAlive trans-fill will
last many seasons of fishing if maintained properly. Always keep your
equipment clean and dry when not in use.
2. Wipe down with a clean, soft cloth. If contaminated, the trans-fill should
be taken out of service immediately. At a minimum this oxygen trans-fill
should be inspected and tested to your state's regulations and guidelines,
and more often if required to ensure safety.

OXYGEN SAFETY TIPS AND WARNINGS
|
1. Never use oil or grease with this Trans-fill.
2. Never use oxygen around or near an open flame.
3. Never smoke in an area where oxygen is in use.
4. Never use oxygen near boat bilges or where gasoline fumes may be
present.
5. Never use industrial oxygen from a cylinder without reducing the
pressure through a regulator intended for that specific gas.
|
6. Never force connections that do not fit properly.
7. Never permit gases to suddenly enter a regulator.
8. Refill cylinders slowly to prevent excessive heat build-up and
possible damage to cylinders.
9. Keep out of reach of children.
10. Always be sure that all fittings and threads are matched and properly for
the gas intended.
11. Never use oxygen as a pressure source to clear an obstructed line or to
operate pneumatic tools.
12. Always keep the oxygen cylinder secured.
|
Do not use organic-based thread sealant on any part of this
trans-fill. This oxygen trans-fill is equipped with two slow filling orifices
designed to relieve excess pressure should the trans-fill malfunction. Should
a malfunction occur, turn off the cylinder valves immediately and disconnect
the trans-fill. Do not attempt to operate the oxygen trans-fill, unless you
are properly trained.
|
CAUTION: Oxygen
is a non-flammable gas, however, the presence of
oxygen will drastically increase the rate of heat and combustion. Inspect for
traces of oil, grease or any other type of contamination, or connection
damage before operating. Failure to comply with these safety precautions can
result in personal injury or property damage. Do not proceed to use until all
equipment and components are correct for safe oxygen use.
